A Melancholy Summer (Dance/Art Film)
A Melancholy Summer is a dance art film exploring longing, hope and yearning through the juxtaposition of sadness and summer. Shot on an old digital camcorder, the film embraces the freedom, colour and imperfections of the format, with loose zooms and a deliberately expressive visual language. Set to Chopin and accompanied by an original poem written and performed by Oliver Grant, the film draws on Baroque aesthetics to create something emotionally heightened, theatrical and intimate.
