Still Live Compostition with Green Tomato and Lemon

The installation translates physical decay into sound using pH measurements of fruit over several days. An Arduino Giga board calibrated pH sensors and transmitted values via OSC to Wekinator, which controlled parameters for granular synthesis in SuperCollider. Variations in pitch spread, grain density, and playback rate reflect changes in fruit composition, producing an evolving sonic texture that parallels the material decay. Self-composed ambient and speech samples were transformed into granular textures, creating an interactive “instrument” where the natural process of decomposition drives the musical outcome. By combining traditional vanitas symbolism with machine learning and sound synthesis, the work offers a reflection on impermanence and the intimate interaction between organic processes and technological mediation.
