SHADOW GENE

Shadow Gene (95 mins, UK, 2014) is a multi-award winning feature film shot in London on grainy black and white 16mm film, at times reflecting the style of the French Nouvelle Vague or Jean-Patrick Manchette's craftily created noir world. The film follows an ethereal female assassin leading Corporate Executives to extinction set against an original sparse piano score that compliments the strands of the narrative and marks the film as an important aesthetic representation of the anti-heroine using live action film, animation, photographs and graphics to underline its wholly experimental character. Analogue driven, it has been produced with a micro crew and cast for minimal resources, boasting hand-drawn animation and graphics, printed photographs, reclaimed 16mm and S8mm film stock.
